This role requires the individual to have credible experience in Information Security or Cybersecurity, with emphasis on endpoint security controls eg. Management of host-based firewalls, host-based intrusion prevention systems [HIPS], host-based malware [Anti-Virus, antispyware], disk and file encryption, application control, Data Leakage Prevention [DLP], endpoint detection and response [EDR]. Vulnerability assessment and configuration will also be part of this role as well as Mobile Device Management [MDM]. This role also has emphasis on networking security devices like perimeter firewalls, WAFs, IDS/IPS and web proxies. The Security Specialist will need to portray service delivery effectiveness in reports and presentations to senior management.

Key Accountabilities

  • Implementation and configuration skills to perform the deployment of relevant networking and endpoint solutions are key as well as the capability to do support and  health checks, day-to-day operational management, monitoring and reporting.

  • Generates documentation for platform rollout to users.
  • Change management around changes implemented on network and endpoint platforms.
  • Engage with business around their network and endpoint policy requirements.
  • Generate SOPs as guidelines for network and endpoint management.
  • Leads the delivery of vulnerability and risk reporting.
  • Leads compliance and auditing efforts.
  • Compiles presentation for Service Review.
  • Compiles monthly service delivery report.
  • Acts as SPOC to escalate service issues to.
  • Gives guidance and mentors junior specialists.


  • Matric
  • Any IT or cybersecurity related entry level certification eg. Comptia A+, N+, Security +, CYSA +, EC-Council CEH.
  • Any CyberSecurity vendor certification eg. Symantec, Microsoft Azure [Preferred], Trend Micro
  • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience.
  • Three (3) years of relevant experience in security technology engineering in a CyberSecurity environment.
  • Experience with internet, web, application and network security techniques.
  • Good analytical and organizational skills.
  • Experience with securing various environments preferred.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Concise writing skills, excellent MS Word skills as well as other MS Office Applications.
  • Experience with securing various environments preferred.

  • Possess very good knowledge of technological advances within the information security area.
  • Demonstrate in depth solution and service knowledge.
